Green light for 136 new homes on edge of city

Plans to build more than 130 homes in a village near Gloucester have been approved by Tewkesbury Borough Council.
Developer Taylor Wimpey plans to build the homes on land north of Innsworth Lane in Innsworth, as part of the wider Whittle Gardens development.
The new housing estate will be made up of 136 homes, of which 46 will be designated as affordable housing.
Permission was granted by the council's civic chiefs, at a meeting on Tuesday.
The proposed housing estate is phase seven of the 1,300 Whittle Gardens development, according to the Local Democracy Reporting service.
The plans include details of the access, appearance, layout, scale and landscape of the new development.
Joshua Kittlety, from Taylor Wimpey, said the proposals were designed to be in keeping with neighbouring sites.
"We will be delivering a tenure mix of 60% affordable rented and 40% intermediate housing," he said.
"The affordable homes are evenly distributed throughout the site and designed to blend well with the proposed market housing."

Possible issues with the sewage systems in the area were raised at the planning committee meeting.
But councillor Sarah Hands said if she thought there were any issues she would be speaking against the proposals.
"Innsworth is the one development I do not get messages from residents with issues with foul drainage," she said.
She said she had met with and spoken to developers about this issue, and they have "very robust schemes they do themselves".
"They pay a lot of money to work out the network, so they can work with Severn Trent," she said,
"This isn't something that happens on other developments."
She proposed approving the scheme and was seconded by councillor Jim Mason.
The council's planning committee voted to grant approval.
