Brighton cinema to reopen after building repairs

A Brighton cinema is reopening on Friday after spending three months closed due to structural issues.

The owners of the Kingswest complex, which houses the Odeon and other businesses on the city's seafront, found "serious issues" with the building in October 2024.

The cinema has announced it will reopen on 7 February but it is not known whether other businesses in the West Street complex, such as nightclub Pryzm, will follow suit.

The BBC has contacted Matsim, the owners of the complex, as well as Pryzm Brighton and Brighton & Hove City Council (BHCC) for comment.

Odeon has reduced ticket prices at the cinema to thank customers for their patience.

Suzie Welch, managing director for Odeon Cinemas Group, said: "We're committed to providing guests a best-in-class cinema experience and can't wait for our guests to get back to enjoying films on the big screen at Odeon Brighton again."
