Armed police deployed after dog attack

Armed police were deployed and a man arrested after reports of an attack involving a large dog.
Gloucestershire Police said the incident happened at about 03:20 BST on Tuesday in the town of Newent in the Forest of Dean.
The force added there had been a "large and prolonged" police presence in the area since then.
The man who was attacked suffered puncture wounds to his arm and was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, where he remains.
A police statement said after officers were called to the attack site, the man believed to be the dog's owner "refused to leave the premises".
"Officers, including armed police and a negotiator, remained at the scene for several hours," it said.
"At around 8.45am the man left the address and he safely put the dog into a cage. It has been taken to police kennels to prevent further risk and for an assessment to determine breed type.
"A man from the Forest of Dean was subsequently arrested on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control and he is in police custody for questioning."
