Road reopens after seven months of work on bridge

A road that has been closed for more than seven months for bridge replacement work has reopened.
The A1088 at Bridge Farm Bridge, Stowlangtoft, near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, closed in July with its reopening originally expected in December.
But the project was put on hold in October when issues with newly installed concrete columns were found.
Work got back under way at the end of that month, and Suffolk County Council's highways department confirmed the road reopened at about 20:30 GMT on Wednesday.

Suffolk Highways previously apologised for the pause in the work last year, but said it would not have been safe to reopen the road at that time.
Councillor Paul West from Suffolk County Council said he was delighted the work had been completed and acknowledged the road closure had been "frustrating for many".
He said: "We hope the long-term benefit of the improved infrastructure outweighs the short-term inconvenience and would like to thank the local community once again for their patience whilst these works were completed."
