The four-mile (6.4km) pursuit came to a halt after the car hit a subway wall

Two men have been arrested after a police chase which saw the pursued car allegedly driven "off road and onto pavements".

Wiltshire Police said the Vauxhall Insignia was seen swerving across the road and driving at excessive speed along Great Western Way in Swindon at 10:40 GMT on Sunday.

The four mile (6.4km) chase ended on Tydeman Street when the driver veered into a subway wall, the force added.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

He has been released on bail pending investigation.

The passenger, Jahred Tafari, 25, of Beech Avenue, was charged with possession of cannabis and is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates' Court on 19 March.
