Man found guilty of rape and other sexual offences

A man has been found guilty of rape and other sexual offences in connection with a campaign of abuse spanning five years.

Police said Shane Davis, 36, from Stone, Staffordshire, made forceful advances on his victims and pressured them into sexual acts against their will.

The offending took place between 2018 and 2023 and he was reported to officers in November of 2023, said the Staffordshire force, which praised the bravery of his victims in giving evidence.

At the end of his trial at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, Davis was found guilty on five counts, including two of rape. He is due to be sentenced on 10 September.

He was also found guilty of two counts of assault by penetration and one count of sexual assault.

Det Insp Lewis Haigh said: "We're determined to take robust action against those responsible for sexual offences and violence, abuse and intimidation against women and girls across Staffordshire, and this is another example of that commitment."
