A teenager described how he was hit off his e-motorbike by a car, before a passenger in the vehicle got out, brandished a knife at him, and took his bike.

Cody, 15, now fears for his safety after the incident which he described as "weird".

It happened when he was riding his bike with a friend in Porth, Rhondda Cynon Taf, at about 17:15 GMT on 11 February.

South Wales Police said two teenage boys, aged 16 and 18, were arrested on suspicion of robbery and have been bailed pending further enquiries.

"[The driver] went speeding into me and hit me and my bike," Cody said.

"I fell on the ground, and he drove into the bike again while I was on the floor."

He added that a passenger then got out of the car "with a knife and swiped it at me".

Cody said he got the motorbike before Christmas, and on the day of the incident was riding with a friend to another friend's house.

"We were going down the road and there was a car behind that was very close - I didn't think much of it at first," he said.

He then said the car sped past him, turned back towards him, before the driver "went speeding into me and hit me and my bike".

The car hit the bike again while he was lying on the floor, before a passenger got out and wielded a knife at him, Cody added.

Those involved then took the bike and put it in the boot of the car, he said.

Cody said he ran away before he was helped by a passerby and the police were called.

More than two weeks later, Cody said he was still in shock about what happened.

"It's changed the way I think about going out on a bike like that. I probably won't go riding my bike again," he said.

Cody has set up a fundraiser to try and recoup some of the money he spent on the bike.

It was a Sur-Ron electric motorbike worth £3,500, much of which he was paying back in instalments.

He does not expect to get it back but hopes action would be taken against those involved.

Cody's mother, Laura Roberts, described the experience as "extremely traumatic", particularly because it happened during the daytime.

"It's been awful. Even when he goes out now - which I know is the right thing to do - I worry," she said.

Ms Roberts, 32, said she wanted to focus on the positives, particularly the fact it "could've been a lot worse".

"He had no serious injuries," she said.

Ms Roberts was also grateful to the passerby who helped.

"[Cody] was scared in case they came back, so this guy was really supportive and it meant Cody didn't have to run away and hide," she said.

You must be 16 to ride an e-motorbike, to which Ms Roberts said "the law is the law".

South Wales Police said it was called to the incident on Glyn Street, Glynfach, Porth, at just before 17:15 GMT on 11 February.

"The 15-year-old rider of the bike is believed to have been deliberately hit by a car and then threatened with a knife before his bike was stolen," the force said, adding that two teenage boys, aged 16 and 18, were arrested on suspicion of robbery.

They have both been bailed pending further enquiries until 13 May.

"The teenage boy was shaken but uninjured and inquiries are ongoing," said Det Sgt Dylan Jones, urging witnesses or those with more information to come forward.
