Man seriously injured in multi-car collision

A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a multi-vehicle collision.

The A47 in Cambridgeshire was closed between Wisbech and Guyhirn at about 06:00 GMT and the injured man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kings Lynn, Norfolk.

Firefighters and paramedics were joined by an air ambulance crew.

National Highways said: "The vehicles from the earlier serious collision have been cleared and the investigation work completed."

On Monday, police confirmed the 28-year-old driver of a Lexus suffered serious injuries and was later transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

Three men travelling in an Audi were not seriously injured while another man did not remain at the scene, officers said.

A red Kia Stonic and a blue Land Rover Freelander were also involved, with the drivers suffering minor injuries.

Sgt Mark Atkins of Cambridgeshire Police said: "I would like to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage or saw the vehicles involved before the collision.

"I would also like to appeal directly to a lorry driver who may have seen the vehicles involved just before the collision."
