Man jailed after city centre tea room vandalised
A 45-year-old man who vandalised a city centre tea room has been jailed for 16 weeks.
Andrew Tolcher was filmed on CCTV on 14 February damaging advertising signs and tables outside Becket's Tea Room, which is located within Peterborough Cathedral's grounds.
He was arrested for the criminal damage as well as two public order offences after he also threatened to assault staff at a job centre in Bridge Street on 12 and 13 February.
Tolcher, of Ashcroft Gardens, Eastfield, Peterborough, was jailed and ordered to pay £50 in compensation after he admitted the offences at Cambridge Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.
PC Janice Upex, from Cambridgeshire Police, said: "Tolcher's attacks on both the job centre staff and tea room were unprovoked, and I am glad we were able to arrest him before he committed any further offences."
