Teenagers arrested following police car crash

Two teenagers have been arrested following a crash involving a police car.

The collision occurred on Burn Lane in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, shortly after 12:20 BST on Sunday.

No-one was injured but two people were taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital suffering with shock, Durham Police said.

A boy, 15, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and an 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle. Both have been released under investigation.

The 15-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled drug.

A Nissan Qashqai, a Ford Ka and a police car were all involved in the collision.

Durham Police are asking anyone who saw the red Qashqai before the incident to come forward.
