A teenage boy is being treated for "serious" injuries after being hit by a car in Derbyshire.

Derbyshire Police said the 13-year-old was struck by a Ford Ranger in Nelson Street, Long Eaton, at about 08:00 BST on Wednesday.

The driver, a man in his 30s, has been arrested in connection with the incident.

The child was taken to hospital for treatment, the force added.
