Woman dies after crash with unmarked police car
A woman in her 80s has died following a car crash that involved an unmarked police vehicle travelling on blue lights, the Staffordshire force has confirmed.
Police said their unmarked Skoda Octavia was responding to an emergency when it collided with a red Nissan Micra that was travelling in the opposite direction on Park Hall Road, Stoke-on-Trent, near to Hulme Road junction.
The force has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) following the incident, as mandatory.
The crash happened at about 15:50 GMT on 5 December, said police, adding the woman was taken to hospital and readmitted 11 days later. She died on 25 December.
The police car was using blue lights at the time of the incident, police said.
