Man, 79, in hospital after being hit by car

A 79-year-old man is in a critical condition after being hit by a car.

The crash took place at about 22:00 GMT on Tuesday at the junction of Hart Lane and Ryehill Gardens in Hartlepool.

The pedestrian was taken to North Tees Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

Cleveland Police said the man was hit by a Toyota Rav4 and is appealing for witnesses.
