Three crews tackle household waste and tyres fire

Crews from three stations have been tackling a fire at a household waste and tyres site that has sent smoke billowing over a main road.

Essex firefighters from Billericay, Basildon and Corringham were called to Oak Road, at Crays Hill at 09:00 GMT.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS) advised nearby residents to close all windows and doors.

Drivers were advised to be cautious as smoke from the fire was blowing over the A127.

No injuries have been reported.
