Connswater tenants left 'panicked' over quick closure

A tenant of an east Belfast shopping centre which is set to close later has said they have been "left panicked" by the quick closure.

Connswater Shopping Centre will close its doors for the final time on Friday after more than 40 years in business.

Footfall has been in decline in recent years with only 20 commercial tenants left in the 52-unit centre.

But some groups, like the East Belfast Men's Shed, have been using the centre as their meeting space.

"We couldn't believe it, we were panicking because we had no idea where we were going to go," Chairman John Lemon told BBC News NI.
