A woman has been jailed for stabbing a teenage boy in the neck with a broken champagne glass during a house party.

Drew Stanton-Foreman, 21, of Redhouse Way, Swindon, was sentenced to two years and eight months at Swindon Crown Court on Monday for inflicting GBH with intent.

The court heard the unprovoked attack on the 17 year old took place during a birthday party at a house in Ferndale Road, Swindon, on 4 June 2023.

Stanton-Foreman initially claimed she had been spiked before the incident, but police said a toxicology report did not support this.

Stanton-Foreman, who had been heavily drinking throughout the night, went into the kitchen around 00:40 BST, before reaching for a champagne glass, smashing it on the kitchen side and stabbing the victim in the neck.

Wiltshire Police said several people were in the kitchen at the time, and had been talking about football before the attack.

The victim was left with a large wound to the neck which could have easily proven fatal, the force added.

In a statement read to the court, the victim said: "I still can't understand why this has happened, or the reason for it.

"I've seen my mum worry about me more and I've had to see her be strong for me, especially knowing there was a prospect I could have died.

"She doesn't want to not let me go out and enjoy my life, but now she worries about what phone call she will get next or if there will be a police officer knocking on the door to say I've been killed."

'Horrific actions'

Following the attack, Stanton-Foreman turned to the others in the room and asked if they wanted to be stabbed too.

Complex crime investigator Catherine Baird said: "Stanton-Foreman took no accountability for her actions, putting forward a guilty plea to a section 20 GBH, which is causing serious harm without intent.

"She claimed she must have been spiked. However, toxicology reports did not support this; she was just very drunk."

She added that psychiatric reports showed "no evidence" there were any mental health concerns involved, which led to Stanton-Foreman changing her plea to guilty.

"The victim must now live with a visible scar and lasting nerve damage as a constant reminder of Stanton-Foreman's horrific actions," she said.
