Five people have been arrested at a rave on Dartmoor, police have said.

Ivybridge and Rural Police said officers were called to reports of an "ongoing rave" at Cadover Bridge at about 07:00 BST.

Police said about 50 people and 35 vehicles were present when officers arrived and five people were taken into custody "for a mixture or drug driving, possession of drugs and possession of a knife".

Organisers of the event were "receptive" when issued with an order to leave the area, the force added.

'Cleaned the site'

In a post on social media, Ivybridge and Rural Police said: "Police spoke with the organisers and served them papers under Section 63 Criminal Justice & Criminal Order Act 1994 ordering them to leave.

"Organisers were receptive to this and packed away the equipment and cleaned the site of rubbish.

"Police would like to thank the members who were inconvenienced by the road closure put in place and for those on the Duke of Edinburgh award who had to take a small detour."

It said many vehicles were left at the site due to drivers being under the influence and officers would be returning to ensure all vehicles were collected.

The force added a "quantity of other drugs" were also seized.
