Attempted murder arrest after man stabbed

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after another man was stabbed.

The 27-year-old received injuries to his head, arm and stomach during an alleged attack on Woodford Walk in Thornaby, Stockton, on Saturday at about 13:50 GMT.

A 38-year-old man has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Cleveland Police said the two men were being held in custody for questioning.

The injured man was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, where he remains in a stable condition.

The force has launched an appeal for information and has asked anyone with footage of what happened to come forward.
