Mountain rescue teams said the woman fell while doing the "Seven Falls Walk" in the Peak District

An injured woman was winched to safety after falling into a stream while walking near waterfalls in the Peak District.

Glossop Mountain Rescue Team said it was called to Arnfield, near Tintwistle, on Sunday afternoon after the woman fell while she was out doing the "Seven Falls Walk".

Volunteer rescuers said the woman had suffered several injuries, and concerns about moving her prompted them to call a coastguard helicopter to help with the rescue.

A spokesperson for the team said: "The winch crew reassessed the lady and subsequently winched her to the helicopter and transported her onward to definitive care."
