A man was fatally shot in north London on Thursday evening, the Metropolitan Police said.

Police were called to an address in Waverley Road, Tottenham, at 20:45 GMT following reports that two men had been shot.

The London Ambulance Service treated one man, aged 27, for a gunshot wound to the head and another man, aged 26, for a gunshot wound to the leg.

The Met said the 27-year-old man died as a result of his injuries, and a murder investigation had been launched.

The man's family have been informed and will be supported by specialist officers.

Det Ch Supt Caroline Haines, who leads policing in Tottenham, is asking for any witnesses, or anyone with any information, to come forward.
