A 23-year-old man has been left in a potentially life-threatening condition following a crash on a Devon road, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called to the incident which involved two vehicles, a Red Hyundai i20 and a silver Toyota Yaris, on the A379 in Shaldon at about 17:30 GMT on Monday.

The force said the firefighters and paramedics were also called out to the incident and the road was closed in both directions near Shaldon Golf Course.

A police spokesperson said the man had been taken to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth while three others had been treated at Torbay Hospital after suffering minor injuries.
