A Royal Navy recruit has died following training at a base in Cornwall.

The unnamed sailor collapsed during a 10-week training course at HMS Raleigh in Torpoint on 11 March, the navy said.

A spokesperson for the navy added an investigation into the circumstances of the recruit's death would take place.

"Our thoughts are with the family and all those affected at this sad time," the spokesperson said.
