Firefighters have been tackling a blaze at a recycling centre.

Essex Fire and Rescue Service said it had been called out to a waste recycling centre near Cordons Farm on Long Green Road in Braintree, Essex at about 14:11 GMT.

It said crews from Braintree, Dunmow and Coggeshall were in attendance and were working to extinguish about 35 tonnes of waste.

Sharon Blute, watch manager, said: "Crews have worked hard, with difficult water supply, to tackle the fire hotspots in the rubbish."

She continued: "There is no risk of smoke to the community and relief crews will remain to monitor the scene."

On social media, the fire service said there was "a lot of smoke" in the area and advised people nearby to keep windows and doors shut.
