Brass band book place in competition finals

A Jersey brass band has made its way to the finals of a national competition in England.
Jersey Premier Brass topped their section in the London & Southern Counties Championship on Sunday.
The result booked the band's place in the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain - which takes place in September.
The band's conductor Jason Mildren said the band had "been hard at it for 10 weeks solid" in the build up to the performance.
'Over the moon'
Jersey Premier Brass competed against 18 other bands in the regional competition.
Mr Mildren said "the band managed to keep the control and focus on the contest stage" while performing Friendly Takeover by Oliver Waespi.
"This win means so much to all of us and I for one am over the moon to be going to the finals in September where we last appeared in 2008 in the first section," he added.
The national finals will take place at Cheltenham Racecourse on 13 and 14 September.
