The production designer for Netflix's new drama Adolescence says the reaction to the series has been "incredible".

Adam Tomlinson, originally from Chelmsley Wood in the West Midlands, was part of the team bringing the show to life.

The four-part British series was released last week and has become the most-streamed title in both the UK and the US within the first week of its release..

"I saw the takes being filmed whilst we were in production and even through you know what's coming, it's still an incredible watch. It's a hard watch, but incredible," Mr Tomlinson said.

Each episode of the drama was filmed in a single take

Adolescence shows the aftermath of the stabbing of a teenage girl, with a 13-year-old boy from her school arrested for her murder.

Jamie, the young suspect, is played by Owen Cooper with Stephen Graham as his dad.

The story shines a light on the corrosive impact of social media and misogynist influencers on some teenage boys, according to those behind it.

Each episode was filmed in a single, uninterrupted take.

"The way we shot the series - there was 15 days per episode," Mr Tomlinson said.

"In the third week, they would shoot twice a day. So we had sort of 10 goes at it. There was a couple of stop starts but they got them all in the end."

Mr Tomlinson described seeing the words come to life as "brilliant".

"Just seeing how well the show has done, it's just exploded - just seeing the public reaction, it's just fantastic for everyone involved," he added.

"It's not really been something that's been done before, it's just incredible the reaction to it."
