Folkestone & Hythe District Council says the new homes will be available in 2026

Plans for 26 new affordable homes in Hythe have been approved.

Folkestone & Hythe District Council said 20 of the homes in Boundary Road would be let to tenants on its housing list.

Six of the dwellings on the former Smiths medical site would be shared ownership, it said, adding that all 26 properties would be available in 2026.

Rebecca Shoob, council lead for housing and homelessness, said she was "delighted" the authority could provide more homes for tenants through the scheme.

She said: "These homes are further evidence of our commitment to provide housing that is both affordable to rent and affordable to heat."

The council said the homes were part of the Sutherland Park development and would be "100% fossil fuel-free, with air source heat pumps and solar panels".

John Roddy, managing director of Roddy New Homes, which is responsible for the scheme, said: "We are delighted to be delivering 26 much needed affordable, energy efficient homes for Folkestone & Hythe District Council on a brownfield site at Sutherland Park."
