A man has been arrested after a pedestrian died following a crash on Saturday.

Essex Police were called to reports of a collision between a van and a pedestrian in Old Road, Clacton-on-Sea, at about 10:50 GMT.

The force said a man, aged in his 60s, from Clacton-on-Sea, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and has been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

A spokesperson said inquiries into the collision were ongoing and being led by the serious collision investigation unit.

Officers are asking for people with any information or dash cam footage to get in touch.
