What is the world’s hardest singing style?

From Tuvan throat singing to yodelling, which is the hardest to master? Alex Marshall finds out.

There are a multitude of unique and intricate singing styles around the world that symbolise the cultures where they were born. But which of these is the hardest to master? And how would a complete novice begin trying to learn them?

“Every culture in the world has their own singing style, and I just want to taste a few of them, to be inspired by the variety and craziness that’s out there,” says Alex Marshall, who took on the challenge.

Alex enlisted the help of two members of the Grammy-winning vocal group Roomful of Teeth, who have studied with masters of vocal traditions across the globe. But will they be able to teach Alex?
